Halal Certification

Halalexchanges.com is an online platform created by Halal Groups Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Industronics Berhad, a Malaysian publicly listed company with the stock code 9393. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of a Malaysian publicly listed company, Halal Groups Limited is committed to promoting the development of halal certification. Our goal is to become a leader in the global halal market and provide safe and reliable halal products to consumers.

Halalexchanges.com is an online platform provided by us for halal consumers and business partners. Through this platform, consumers can conveniently purchase various types of halal food and products, while also providing a channel for certified halal producers and suppliers to showcase and promote their products.

Our development plan is divided into two stages to achieve a leading global position:

In the first stage, we plan to invest $100 million in the construction of a 40,000 square feet Halal Mall in the central and Hung Hom core business districts of Hong Kong. This mall will specifically cater to the needs of consumers for halal products, offering a halal supermarket and dining establishments. Additionally, we will develop the e-commerce platform Halalexchanges.com to provide consumers with an online shopping experience.

In the second stage, we plan to invest $200 million to expand into China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Through partnerships with local collaborators, we will broaden the coverage of our halal certification business and further penetrate international markets.

With the advantage of being a subsidiary of Industronics Berhad, a listed company in Malaysia, and the support and international recognition from the Malaysian government, we continuously enhance our expertise and service quality to become a leader in the global halal certification field. We actively collaborate with industry partners to promote the development of the halal industry and provide more choices and opportunities for halal consumers worldwide.

Malaysia is committed to becoming a global hub for halal food due to the booming growth of the halal food market. In addition to the demand from Muslim consumers, non-Muslim consumers, especially those in mainland China who are concerned about food safety, have become an emerging market segment. According to reports, global expenditure on food by the Muslim population reached $1.2 trillion in 2015 and is projected to reach $1.9 trillion by 2021, with an annual growth rate of 9%.

The fundamental principles of halal food involve compliance with Islamic law, including the requirement for meat to come from healthy animals slaughtered using a specific method. Fruits and vegetables are considered halal, but they must not be mixed with prohibited products, and halal food should not come into contact with prohibited substances during processing and transportation. The Malaysian government established the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) to implement the halal certification system and has gained authoritative status in setting global halal guidelines.

To further strengthen Malaysia's position as a halal hub, the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) was established to promote the development and branding of halal standards. Additionally, through the Halal Industry Master Plan (2008-2020), the Malaysian government aims to become a global leader in various halal-related industries, including processed foods, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, ingredients, logistics, tourism, and healthcare services.

Currently, Malaysia has 25 halal industrial parks that provide shared facilities and supply chain development to foster synergies in halal-related industries. The Prima Halal Food Industrial Park, for instance, focuses on halal food processing and provides central services and shared facilities for manufacturers within the park.

In summary, Malaysia is committed to becoming a global hub for halal food by establishing global halal standards, developing halal industrial parks, and promoting the growth of related industries to meet the demands of the global halal food market.

As a trading and marketing platform for halal food, Hong Kong can enhance its role in halal food trade and marketing by becoming a hub for halal food trade and marketing. With approximately 2 billion Muslims worldwide, with 62% located in the Asia-Pacific region, the demand for halal food is not limited to Muslim consumers. Non-Muslim consumers, particularly those concerned about food safety, are also driving the growth of halal food demand. Hong Kong, located at the crossroads of Asia and adjacent to Malaysia, serves as a convenient transit point and international food trading center. Through collaboration with Malaysia, Hong Kong can facilitate the procurement and export of halal products to global markets, as well as introduce halal products from other countries to Malaysia and Asian markets. Collaboration with African companies can also help tap into the halal food markets along the Belt and Road countries.

Furthermore, Hong Kong, as a free economy, has open trade policies and low tariff rates. This allows for the import and export of halal food at lower costs, attracting international halal food suppliers and buyers to choose Hong Kong as a trade hub.

Hong Kong is well-suited to serve as a marketing platform for halal food, with over 60 stores and restaurants offering halal-certified food. While Malaysia aims to become a major halal food center, Hong Kong's food and beverage industry possesses extensive experience in helping brands penetrate different markets. Additionally, Malaysian companies can leverage the expertise of Hong Kong companies to promote their halal food to non-Muslim markets worldwide, meeting consumer demand for certified halal products and providing options for food safety and high quality.
